Kiryoku Dojo took part in the 100 Kata Challenge for World Karate Day.
A few of Kiryoku Dojo members braved the wind and chill to participate in this yearly event bringing karateka together all over the world.
It was a small group on the sandy beach in front of the Cape Recife Ligthouse and a great family oriented day was had with the karate spirit fierce. 100 Kata from the Shorin-ryu syllabus were completed.
The venue this year was chosen for its beauty and has a long history. The Cape Recife lighthouse was built in 1851. This lighthouse warns passing ships of the dangers of the equally romantically named Thunderbolt Reef, which has claimed many ships.
The rocks are dotted with fishermen and there is abundant birdlife. The area is a reserve and a fabulous area to relax, cycle and hike.
